Dev Log 3 – Photogrammetry in AR

Week 3
It is week 3 of the development of our experiment. So far we have gotten the drone and have been able to do some test flights, as well as been able to create some new tests for models in our devices. We will be continuing our tests and hopefully will be moving forward to scan the entire building, though for right now we have only scanned a small statue outside the building. The model looks quite nice, and the program is able to map it well. We will be importing them into Unity soon enough and will be able to implement the AR tracking soon with our main AR programmer on the team.
Next Meeting
Our next meeting will revolve around checking the statue for blemishes, fixing them up in Blender, and using it to test more in the AR side of everything. We have one main developer looking into AR while the other ones of us have been doing the drone flying and have been working with the modeling software and I have been working on the white paper and helping where I can. It will be much better as soon as we implement the new statue into Unity we will be able to start working on the AR implementation. Most of next class will be spent towards getting the AR to work, and it will all be even more complete on Thursday.

Conclusion
While we are behind in the main section of the project, we are well ahead of ourselves in the later sections of the project, and will easily be able to pick up the other parts once we have enough time to get to those parts. For now we are looking good in all the sections we have been working on, and its looking promising towards the AR side of the development. We should be fully ready and implemented by the time the project is due, and it should all be fully operational.
