Game Review – Monster Hunter: World
There are many longstanding game series out there that have been slowly leveling up their gameplay and graphics as the new generations of computers come out and standards get higher and higher from people everywhere. The game that instantly came to mind to me is Monster Hunter: World, a 2018 action role-playing game made by Capcom. Made only 5 years after its predecessor, Monster Hunter 4, it looks absolutely stunning, its graphics holding up to some of the most recent games to date, along with memorable stories and content. These range from different creatures, weapons, and items along with mechanics like crafting your own weapons, growing plants from the botanical garden in your spawn, getting your own personal quarters that upgrade as you continue to play through the game, and many other shops and menus from within the peaceful spawn location.
Story
The story begins with a hunter coming from the old world on a ship. After the adventure goes awry, you have to battle your way to the civilization and work on uncovering the story of why the balance of nature is going askew. By completing several short missions of hunting a monster, you are rewarded with some money and monster parts which you can use to upgrade or forge weapons, with 14 different weapon and fighting styles given to the player to choose from. The player can even team up with 3 others to complete missions, fight monsters, and explore various environments in the New World.
Graphics
From an older time where the graphics were nowhere near as good, the massive jump in graphics between Monster Hunter 4 and Monster Hunter World was astounding and really brought the series to the foreground again, along with the later release of Monster Hunter World: Iceborn. The DLC added an extra half to the game, if not doubling or tripling the game in size along with adding even more creatures, worlds, and content for the player to explore.
In Conclusion
When it comes to some action games around these days, there are a fair few to choose from. From FPS games or Battle Royales like Fortnite to stealth or shoot-em-up games like Metal Gear, there are many different types for all people to enjoy. For those on the side of MMO RPGs or for people who like to complete quests and grind for their supplies, I could not recommend any game more than Monster Hunter World. With all the unique weapons and hours upon hours of content, and the sheer depth and extra story added by the DLC Iceborn, this game is far worthier in getting than some other games of similar genre out there on the market.
