Roblox VC Project DEVLOG 01-03

Week three! This was a fun week. As I said before, I finally got to do some programming! It wasn’t useful programming, but it was programming nonetheless.
You see, our lead programmer had been having some issues with the door code. If a script became deactivated for whatever reason, it refused to work once it had been reactivated. I proposed a simple solution That I had discovered both coding for my own game. Essentially, Instead of activating and deactivating a script once someone was in a given region, the script would instead activate and deactivate a boolean to allow the rest of the script to work. I don’t even remember how I programmed it. I had someone holding my hand the entire time. And I do not know if the code I proposed worked or not.

This is because my main role this week was to be a play tester. As I was the only person who brought a mic to class, I was hooked up onto my friend’s computer and told to speak specific phrases into the mic to open up doors. And I got a few things to say about that. First of all, it was really cool the things I said become words on a video game screen instead of text on the Word document I’m using to write this blog. Second of all, I did not like when I said “not see” and it instead became “Nazi”… luckily, the third party program we are using only types the selected phrases Needed to open doors.
Speaking of, that was something that made me a little disappointed. When I started this, I was hoping that we could do all of this in house, using only items that Roblox gives us. However, as the voice feature is in its beta, it is hard to say what the full potential of the program will be.

Side note: There is a key hidden on my floor that you can pick up. Designed the thing myself (the pickup stuff was done by our coder).
If you want to play the game, here it is!
