Dev Log 2 – Photogrammetry in AR
Week 2
It is week 2 of the development of our experiment. We have so far not done too much in the actual implementation of our idea due to the constraints of not having the drone yet, but by the time we next meet, we should have a drone. Other than that, we have been doing a lot of research into the topic and discussing amongst each other how to go forward with the project. We have also begun to experiment with different objects in Unity and are looking towards how we will be able to implement the 3d scan when we get to that point.
Next Meeting
When we meet again, we will be able to get access to the drone hopefully, and will begin to be able to test-fly it around the area. After getting a fair bit of practice under our wings in being able to fly it during finer weather conditions, we will be able to take it up closer to evening time when the lighting is more neutral, this way we will get the best looking model to work with in Blender. Using this, we will be able to have an easier time working on our project and importing it much more clearly into Unity for the final version. Next meeting we will be able to continue our research into Photogrammetry and the AR side of Unity.
Conclusion
While we are behind in the main section of the project, we are well ahead of ourselves in the later sections of the project, and will easily be able to pick up the other parts once we have enough time to work with the drone. After we get the drone, a solid 75 minutes is all we should need to test fly it and get ready to model and prepare the building for its scanning.
