IREC Acceptance
The Hurricane Rocketry Club has officially been accepted to participate in the International Rocket Engineering Competition – a great honor for a new club. We will be competing in the 10K COTS competition. We have submitted our first Interim Report, and will begin building our competition rocket after the winter holidays.
L1 Certifications
Over two rocket launches, nine HRC members successfully launched self-built rockets, earning L1 Certifications. Seven members received their certifications at a launch in Sayre, hosted by Tripoli Oklahoma. Two more members received theirs the next week at a launch in Leonard, hosted by Tulsa Rocketry. Through this experience, students learned the basics of rocketry construction by building their rockets fully on their own, with mentor Michael coaching every step of the way. They also learned how to launch high performance rockets, following all of the safety guidelines to have a successful launch. All of these skills will come in handy in the IREC Competition.
