Work Statment
The objective of this project is to design, develop and build a mining robot for the 9th Annual Robotic Mining Competition hosted by NASA. The robot must be able to traverse a terrain of silt (BP-1) and rocks, excavate gravel, and return the excavated mass for deposit into a collector bin.
About Us
The University of Tulsa’s robotics team was founded in mid-August of 2017 by Dr. J.C. Diaz and a group of engineering students that had a passion for learning robotics. The team is now composed of members studying a range of disciplines in mechanical, physics, electrical, and computer science engineering; a few of which have participated in FIRST Robotics. This will be the team’s first entry to the NASA RMC. Starting out in a very narrow classroom at the university, the team recently expanded their workspace to the basement of the engineering college. This whole season has been a learning experience for all the members. The team’s outreach programs consist of assisting Booker T. Washington High School’s robotics team along with partnering with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers to host STEM events at a nearby high school to promote higher education, along with a university wide Academic Olympiad.
