The mining mechanism includes an auger that will rotate to the desired mining entry angle, then will extend downwards piercing the BP-1. The auger will be enclosed in PVC to assist in guiding the material through the auger. The PVC will have cutout windows that allow the team to inspect the collection. There will also be a cutout for the BP-1 and gravel to dump into the storage. The rotating auger will consist of a slider mechanism that operates with a linear actuator attached in-between two aluminum plates. In the collection process, there will be an extendable net connecting to the mining mechanism and storage. It will travel with the auger in order to collect the BP-1 and gravel and filter out as much BP-1 before delivering into storage.
The way that the storage works is once ready to dump the auger will rotate to the beginning mining angle then the inside component will slide across the backside of the outer component and reach the max height to dump. This is done with a scissor jack, one linear actuator, and a slider to guide the storage. The inside component does not have a back and will have a brush attached to the bottom back to brush any remaining material out into the collector bin. Throughout dumping process, the mesh will filter out BP-1 in order to obtain the correct volume for our target specification. Since the BP-1 will be filtered out from the bottom of the inside component where the scissor jack is, there will be a sleeve that will travel with the storage as it slides so that it protects against BP-1.
