Under-Represented Minorities STEM Fields
The following groups have been identified as under-represented in the STEM fields.
- African Americans: An American of black African ancestry.
- Native Americans: An American descendent from the first inhabitants of this continent. Must be in the rolls of a Native American tribe or be Alaskan native.
- Hispanics: A United States of America citizen, or resident, of Spanish or Spanish-Latin-American origin or descent.
- Native Pacific Islanders (Micronesian and Polynesian): An American whose ancestry originates from the aborigine people of the Pacific islands included in the general area South-East of Taiwan-Japan-Korea and North-East of Malaysia-Australia-New Zealand, i.e. Guam, Polynesian Islands, Native Hawaiian, the Philippines, etc. Specific ethnicity must be identified. For instance, ethnic Chinese or Indian from these areas are included with mainland Chinese or Indians respectively and thus are well-represented
