Adults:
-18 years of age or older.
-Have a history of a traumatic event.
-Nightmares at least 1 time a week.

Dr. Davis is one of the country’s leading experts in researching and treating nightmares and is a licensed psychologist. Our research team includes advanced students in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at The University of Tulsa. The treatment from these highly trained individuals is offered free of charge and compensation is provided for completing follow-up assessments.

Our studies are approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the university to ensure that the procedures are ethical and safe.

Integrating Sleep and PTSD Treatment: Examining the Role of Emotion Regulation

This study was funded through OCAST and is continuing data collection past the three year funding period. Individuals are eligible for this study if they have experienced a traumatic event, have PTSD, and have nightmares. Treatment includes Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and ERRT, and there are three treatment conditions: CPT then ERRT, ERRT then CPT, and CPT only. Treatment length ranges from 12-17 sessions and compensation will be provided at 3 and 6 month follow-up time points.

Exposure, Relaxation, Rescripting Therapy (ERRT) Dismantling

This study aims to examine which components of ERRT are the most efficacious in reducing nightmares. Individuals are eligible for this study if they have experienced a traumatic event and have nightmares. Treatment takes place over 5 weekly sessions. and compensation will be provided at 3 and 6 month follow-up time points.

Efficacy of a Brief Treatment for Chronic Nightmares among Trauma-Exposed Persons with Bipolar Disorder

This study aims to examine the efficacy of ERRT for post-trauma nightmares with individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Individuals are eligible for this study if they have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, have been stable on medication for 2 months, have experienced a traumatic event, and have nightmares. Treatment takes place over 5 weekly sessions.
