More specifically, I am interested in factors such as historical loss awareness, ethnic/cultural identity, communication style, environment, and everyday historical trauma reminders (e.g., micro and macroaggressions, anti-semitism, hate crimes/hate speech) in relation to how individuals experience, respond to, heal from, and cope with historical trauma and loss.”

I also want to examine the role of ethnic identity, specifically to explore whether it buffers the negative impacts of historical trauma on psychological distress.”

“I am currently collecting data for my dissertation project focusing on factors important to student-athlete retention. I am particularly interested in the experiences of student-athletes of color at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, as well as Predominately White Universities. Dr. Tara Buck is an assistant professor of psychiatry and Oxley Chair in Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Research at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine. Dr. Buck is working in collaboration with Dr. Cromer on the Clinical Outcomes of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Nightmares in Children (CBT-NC) project.
